Song Week 2024 #1: SFirst song of 2024. I am relaxing the song a week discipline but could not resist the idea that a new year means a new round of subscriptions coming up for renewal and corporate ownership is the theme here.

A Year
Song Week 2023 #52: Seasons. weather and relationships. 52 new songs and two remixes completed this year. This is the Christmas week song, deserving of a bit more love and attention, but time is tight during the festive period.
The Other Side of Midnight
Song Week 2023 #51: The Other Side of Midnight: inspired by Cinderella
Wooden Heart
Song Week 2023 #50: Both people and forests are vulnerable. Let’s start mending.
Show Me a Sign
Song Week 2023 #49: Charles Dicken’s morality tale ‘A Christmas Carol’ remains as relevant today as when it was first published in 1843. That probably suggests something about the eternal human condition and the current socio-political environment. I have borrowed Alastair Sim for my video. Merry Christmas.
Cold Hands Warm Hearts
Song Week 2023 #48: This is a song about an artist struggling with his work. Its also about changing seasons, help and rebuilding, not forgetting love.
Ghetto Billy
Song Week 2023 #47 The title is the song prompt. The song started life with the piano chords. I then built the drum part from sample loops and played the piano chords, adding the bass, guitar and synth tracks. The dominance of the drums suggested the story. Rags to riches on drums – go Billy!
The Darkest Hour (2023 Version)
Song Week 2023 #47 This is a song which I wrote and quickly recorded in 2020. It was written about failed political leadership and the endless drift to conflict. Lessons unlearned from history. As we have still not learned the lesson, the song becomes very relevant again in 2023. I have remixed and mastered it, adding an improved string arrangement.
Stalker
Song Week 2023 #46 This is the confession of a stalker, who used his obsession with a female celebrity to watch her life in intimate detail, selling on her secrets to the tabloid press and celebrity magazines. In his defence he says that his motivation was rooted in his desire to live her lifestyle. “I just wanted to be like you”.
Precipice
Song Week 2023 #45 A warning for the age of the great divides.
