Song a Week 2021: Week 52 I am intrigued by the space between history and myth. This piece consists of four songs (and a reprise) that explore the Great North Road in the UK. The road has meandered its way north between London and Edinburgh since before Roman times. Like a river it has taken different routes and has more recently been tamed by modern road building.

Song a Week 2021: Week 50 I have been reading The Spy and the Traitor by Ben Macintyre and this song has been inspired by that book.

Song a Week 2021: Week 50 Happy Christmas!

‘The Fairy on Top of the Tree’ is here. On the one hand this is a pantomime song and meant to be comedic. It was written about a grumpy, Christmas fairy who suffers with vertigo. However, the humour is deliberately dark and the lyrics comment on people fulfilling roles that they are not comfortable with and those at the top of the tree who know they might fall. ……….
