The stimulus for this song was the Song a Week Challenge theme ‘Sonic Boom’. Concorde was a British–French turbojet powered supersonic passenger airliner that was operated from 1976 until 2003. Concorde was retired in 2003 three years after a fatal crash, in which 100 people died. A feat of brilliant engineering, Concorde’s lifespan was short as it proved uneconomic to operate.

Wastwater
Wastwater in the English Lake District is simply stunning and the view to the mountains at the valley head is simply stunning. This is a postcard from my latest visit opening with a view of the lake from Scafell Pike.
D*SS*D*NT “*”
This is a song about political dissent and oppression.
Dissident – a person who opposes official policy, especially that of an authoritarian state.
Asterisk – a star shaped symbol often used to censor offensive words.
Anniversary of the Faerie Queen
I created the first verse and chorus whilst walking through woods. It seemed that the song was always destined to be a Marc Bolan tribute. This TRex pastiche was completed for the the SongaWeek Challenge, with the theme being ‘Happy Anniversary’.
With a Stranger
A bit of light IndieRock. The lyric is about the realisation that you might fall in love with someone that you do not know.
Other Peoples’ Children
A song about children and parents stuck in the cycle of poverty, viewed through sympathetic middle class eyes and a belief that society does not have to be this way.
The Story of a Glance
The power of a glance has been so much abused in love stories, that it has come to be disbelieved in. Few people dare now to say that two beings have fallen in love because they have looked at each other. Yet it is in this way that love begins, and in this way only. Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
006
This is an homage to a classic Bond movie and also an appreciation of fellow Yorkshireman, Sean Bean, who played 006 in the film Goldenye.
Gunslinger
Fiction, fact, reality, consequences – I like guns in Westerns but not in the real world. Gunslinger….. Song a Week 2021 for Week 17 – May 2nd
Light, Glass and Lead
Listen on SoundCloud – A song about the art of stained glass and its association with the power of church and state. Song a Week 2021 for Week 16 – April 25th
