No words for the start of 2026. I was reading about the destruction of Pompeii, because I am off to see Marillion there in the summer (yippee!). It struck me that one day life is normal but then it can change in an instant. It somehow feels that is where we are all sitting at present, whilst the clowns expect us to dance to their lunatic tunes.

The Flood
Song Week 2025 – Week 52: TThis a song partly about a historical flood in my locality, part about a feeling of being trapped in a disturbing dream and finally, about saying goodbye.
Mr President
Song Week 2025 – Week 46: This started life as a wordplay using names of US presidents but it turned into a commentary on he whose name I won’t mention. Principally because he has decided to attack the BBC, which is very precious to me. A global TV station that is owned by taxpayers and is not in the control of oligarchs or dictators. A light hearted romp but none of this is funny.
Chocolates On The Christmas Tree
So here is my Christmas tune for 2025. Completely instrumental and ‘electronical’. Published early because it just arrived out of the creative ether yesterday. Released on major streaming platforms November 14th.
The Ashen Faced Maiden
Song Week 2025 – Week 44: A ghost story about the consequences of temptation. A man befriends an ashen faced maiden whilst walking in the countryside but she is not all that she seems.
Fallen Star
Song Week 2025 – Week 43: Never was transition of music genres between generations as vitriolic as the kicking that rock (particularly progressive rock) took from the arrival of the punks.
Other People’s Children
Song Week 2025 – Week 42: This song was written in 2021 and recorded using my basic skills at the time. So I thought I would revisit it, record and produce it again. I am pleased with both the performance and production. It is a simple comment about life chances and how badly they are affected by poverty.
An Absence of Hope
Song Week 2025 – Week 40 I set out to make a dark song using synthesizer voices, Gary Numan style. I created all the music before I wrote a lyric. At this point it all went very ‘1984’ , in more ways than one. In part a commentary on the world today, in part a reflection of George Orwell’s lesson to all of us. Democracy is fragile, the other option is an absence of hope.
Tonight
Song Week 2025 – Week 39: Inspired by the Bohemian principles of Truth, Love and Freedom as referenced in Moulin Rouge, which I saw on stage last week. Set against the current backdrop of growing ultra-conservatism.
Seduction By Hypnosis
Song Week 2025 – Week 37: Playing around with synths, I entered the world of seduction and hypnosis. An instrumental.
